Phalaenopsis kapuasensis Metusala & P.O'Byrne

My thanks to Reza Wibawa for sending me his beautiful photos of the plants he is growing, so I can include this new species on my website. Thanks to him we have a better knowledge of the genus Phalaenopsis .

Publication: J. Pro-Life 4(3) 388. 2017.

This new species, described in November 2017, is comparable to Phalaenopsis gigantea and doweryensis. The first plants were discovered in 2011, and others in 2017. From the appearance of the fresh flowers that could be studied this species is easily differentiated from Phalaenopsis gigantea and doweryensis by the presence of hairs on the upper part of the midlobe lip, as you can see in this photo.
